About
Jamila Garrett

Ever since writing her city-wide winning poem in the 1st grade she knew she was a poet at heart.

Jamila Garrett grew up in Washington, DC to two artistic parents. Her mother is an artist and her father is a musician, so her gravitation towards poetry was written.

Jamila has written over 600 poems in which some are captured her World Element Collection. This 4-book poetry collection represents each of the world elements: Air, Fire, Water, and Earth.

Being inspired by the simplicity of falling leaves to grit on bicycle chains, Jamila is able to use her words to create and transform words into moments when you read her poetry.

One way she continues to create and inspire others is to consistently operate from a place of love.

Love is the basis of what she accepts and responds to. Jamila strives to not only write poetry, but to use poetry to become a vessel for others to live beautiful lives just as she lives hers.
